Farm Happenings for July 6, 2021

Posted on June 30th, 2021 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Hello everyone!

Well, it's still almost too hot to sit under a laptop but it's a lot better than it was! Wow, that was quite a heat wave. It will still be hot for the coming days but glad it's gone down below 40C. Hope you've all done ok these past few days as well. Something we may, unfortunately, need to get used to.

The veggies have done ok during this time. Lots of crops are actually really taking off now: the heat lovers like squash, cucumber, eggplant, and peppers have shot up during this time mainly because we gave them lots of water. It's pretty nice to see!

I wanted to send the customization email out tonight in case anyone is going away for the weekend! We have much of the same items as last week, with more summer squash to go around and broccoli. We will have some green cabbages ready next week, and fennel is on the list as well!

A reminder that we also have some other cuts of grass-fed beef from Hanceville Cattle Co. like tenderloin, NY, ribeye, and sirloin steaks, short ribs, and roasts. You can reply to this email if you want info/pricing on those! And we still have organically-fed eggs from Alexandria Springs Farm, and apple cider vinegar from Fraserbench Farm on the extras page as well.

Skipping the Line at the Farmers' Market: just wanted to mention to market pick-ups that we definitely want you to skip the line, if there is one! If you're there to pick up your share, please do flag one of us down. I don't want you to have to wait in line for your box. So do let us know and we can grab it for you right away! We are planning to do next Tuesday's market. It looks to be cooling down quite a bit by then.

Thanks everyone. Let me know any questions, as always!

Your Farmer,

- Brianna
