Welcome to Puddle Produce Farm's Fall CSA Program!

Posted on September 13th, 2020 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

This is Brianna, the farmer at Puddle Produce Farm. If we haven't met yet, I wanted to make sure you received some details about the Fall CSA program, and also to say a huge thanks for signing up! The Fall CSA program will be starting the week of September 21st. First, a note about pick-up days:

When I launched CSA sales, you had the option of a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday pick-up. Our town schedule has changed a bit and we are only able to offer Wednesday and Friday pick-ups until the Friday farmers' market ends on October 9th. After that, it will be Wednesdays only. Please do let me know if this doesn't work for you! Sorry for any inconvenience around this.

Here are some things to know about how the CSA program will work:

1.) Who to contact about your CSA share - I am still your #1 contact on the farm! If you have any questions or issues with your weekly share outside of changes that can be made through your Harvie profile, please let me know. As always, if something doesn't meet your expectations, I'll replace it or make it right. Best ways to get in touch with me are:

info@puddleproduce.ca

778.961.0600 (cell) *there is no cell service on the farm, so if we're not in town doing market or deliveries, please try the farm # below!

250.297.0145 (farm)

If you have a technical issue with the Harvie platform itself, their support team is there to help through their online chat system or email: support@harvie.farm.

Email is our primary means of getting information to you, so please ensure your main email address is in your Harvie profile. You will get 2 emails from Harvie every week:

  • "Time to customize" will let you know what we've pre-filled in your box. If you want to swap anything, there will be a link in that email to make those changes, as well as a customization time window. If you decide you need to cancel, reschedule the bag, or pick it up at another spot, now's your final chance to do so. We aim to send these customization emails out by the previous Saturday each week.
  • "Your box is on the way" will be sent as we're packing your box, to let you know what we've packed for you as well as the details for your chosen pick-up location. Your final payment for each delivery, if applicable, will be charged at that time (more info on how payments work below).

Also, is the phone number in your Harvie profile the best one to reach you at on delivery days? These are good to keep up to date, as we may need to call you if there are any issues with making a delivery (ie: flat tires, freak July snow storms, etc.)

2.) Next Steps with Your CSA Share - Harvie will fill your weekly boxes based on what's available from the farm that week, and the preferences you set when you purchased a share. You can change these preferences anytime, even mid-season if you've had enough of something, or want more of something else. You can edit your preferences here, as well as reschedule a date or location for pick-up, edit contact info, payment info, etc.  Also, the value of each weekly share will fluctuate depending on the volume of produce available at the time: in the spring, for example, there is less variety as the season is starting, but you will see higher per-week values as production increases in the summer and fall.

There is a handy Customer FAQ right here that has more info on how to set preferences, how to swap items, how to buy extras, and how to reschedule, hold, or change a delivery.

It's a good idea to check out the My Deliveries section of your Harvie profile after you've purchased a share, and/or if you know you'll be going away certain dates during the summer. You can reschedule a delivery, change just the location of a delivery, or put a delivery on hold. Holds are like skips: you get 3 per calendar year. There is more info about changing these options right here.

If you're curious about how the payment plan works, there are more details on that here.

Please do let the Harvie support team know if you have ANY questions about setting up your profile! Or get in touch with me if you have any other questions or feedback. My main goal is that you're happy with your farm share!

Lastly, this is the first year I have attempted a Fall CSA so there is the possibility that weather may affect the length of the program. I will ensure you get the value of the deposit you have already paid for, at the very least! But we may cut the Fall CSA program short if we run out of produce or its affected by weather.

Huge thanks for your support - can't wait to grow for you this year!

Your Farmer,

Brianna van de Wijngaard and the Puddle Produce team
