Farm Happenings for August 11, 2020

Posted on August 5th, 2020 by Brianna van de Wijngaard

Happy 2nd week of August, everyone!

Hope many of you have had a chance to get some time away with friends and family. We've had some beauty weather, perfect for camping or hanging out next to some water. We're just happy we don't have to mow the lawn 3 times a week! :P And the sunsets have been pretty amazing.

We've got most of the usuals available to choose from this week, but also a few extras: we are getting some produce from Earl at Silver Birch Farm on West Fraser Rd, which we're really excited about! Earl is not certified organic, but he grows his produce with zero chemical applications whatsoever. He feels very strongly about growing sustainable products, so we are 100% happy to get produce from him that we don't grow. This week, we will have some lovely new Red Chieftain and Yukon potatoes, as well as cylindra beets and ...garlic! I like cylindra beets best for pickling or canning: the skin comes off super easy.

We are also doing another round of bread orders from Annette! We still need to get our orders up a bit from her, to be able to still be on her list, so if you're thinking about trying her bread, now's the time! You'll see all of them in the extras list.

More tomatoes and cucumbers for everyone this week, as the heat puts the growth into the greenhouse.

We are also getting some more blueberries for next week's shares, for those that we missed! Thanks, everyone. Enjoy the week!
