Farm Happenings for June 22, 2021

Posted on June 17th, 2021 by Grayson Crane

Hello!

Greetings from the farm--we've been loving the cooler weather the past week has given us. Those big, crunchy radishes you got in last weeks box certainly love that sort of weather. As I type though, we're gearing up for a hot week. Our tomatoes, basil, beans, cukes, and zukes are definitely going to appreciate the extra heat. Many of these crops are either tucked in tunnels, or planted to mulch to up the warmth for them.

This time of year is a critical time for weed management--Aimee (who many of you have met!) and I have been hard at work hula hoeing and occasionally hand weeding to keep everything down. So far, our fields are looking beautiful! The picture from this week was from a new friend who came out to take some shots of the farm for the Washington Land Trust. We're really excited to be working with the trust this year to conserve the farm, ensuring it will remain a farm for the duration. I could type away about this for awhile, but suffice to say it is very cool, and we're looking forward to having it over the finish line by the end of this year.

Stay hydrated out there! And a happy Pride month to you all!
