Farm Happenings for June 15, 2021

Posted on June 10th, 2021 by Grayson Crane

Hi there CSA Members,

Welcome to your first box, and newsletter! We're excited to shift to Harvie as a tool for better organization, more flexibility, and easier share logistics. Please let us know how it is working for you as we go.

Our first box brings some of the best and tastiest of the spring/summer season. We had a strange start to the year here--it was dry early, which let us get into our fields 3 weeks earlier then usual. The flip side of that was that our night time temperatures were still pretty chilly down here. We were able to get lots of early crops and summer favorites established though, with the help of some season extension techniques.

This marks the third year of growing vegetables at Pink Moon Farm--we've added some improvements this winter (like a 120' x 30' high tunnel, pictured here) to guarantee some of our favorite crops, and are really seeing the benefits of our management. Solid cover cropping, and rotating our chickens and sheep across the farm has turned old cow pastures into some truly stellar soils with far far far less grass to weed, mow, and stress over.

Looking forward to seeing you all this week at pick up. As a reminder, please bring a bag (or two if you're a full share) to get all your goodies.
