Farm Happenings for June 29, 2021

Posted on June 23rd, 2021 by Grayson Crane

Hi all,

Hope everyone is hanging in there over this hot weekend. We've shifted our work schedule around to get the important work done, harvest early, and then hide in the woods during the day finishing perimeter fencing. Our flock of sheep are thankfully already sheared, and have been sipping on some sheep lemonade (molasses and apple cider vinegar) to try to keep cool and hydrated.

This week's share brings some early summer treats that we worked to keep cool and collected during this wild weather. Broccoli, and green cabbage is making an appearance--you may see broccoli again in a couple weeks, and then not again until the cooler weather returns. We've been working on selecting varieties that can withstand temperature fluctuations--seems like our world, and region is full of more change and here's to hoping that careful tending and some great genetics can keep us eating some delicate treats this year.

In better news the basil, beans, tomatoes, and onions are loving this. Get ready for some hot crops!

See you at pick up :)
