Farm Happenings for January 22, 2023

Posted on January 11th, 2023 by Grayson Crane

Hi there Winter CSA members,

Hope you're all as well as can be with the start of 2023. We've had some time to relax and unwind down here, while we've also been chugging along on plans for the coming season. Its usually right around now that I feel like I can notice a slight lengthening of the days, and when the sun breaks through (like today) I'm reminded that spring isn't too far off yet. This weeks box is still bringing the fall treats--we're pretty stuck with what we've planted the previous fall this time of year still. Short day hours means its really hard to start any seeds. They will sprout but tend to be pretty scrawny and leggy as they're reaching for whatever sunlight they can find. We started a bunch of trays of greens last November (2022) and they are *just* finally getting big enough to plant. These will find a home in our biggest high tunnel, where the chickens have done a great job recycling tomatoes and setting things up for the coming year.

See you all at pick up! We're back to our regularly scheduled location (Cap Hill Market)
