Giving Thanks

Posted on November 27th, 2019 by Robyn Calvey

I am a huge fan of Thanksgiving.  Time to gather, reflect and of course...eat.  It's really the kick off to winter with all of us filling our bellies and preparing to rest.  With long nights upon us now, I remind myself that  winter in Wisconsin is designed for resting.  The fields are resting, the plants are resting and along the creatures we should be resting.

As you see in the photo...Frances has been working on her art projects at daycare.  I can't get enough of her work and this one was especially heartwarming.  She not only is thankful for food, toys and family but she is also thankful for herself!  We can all learn a lesson from the mind of a toddler.  Don't forget to be thankful for yourself sometimes.  We all deserve it but often forget it.

I know that here at Park Ridge Organics we are VERY THANKFUL for YOU!  As a local eater, you are the reason we can grow and the reason we can sustain.  Your support means so much.  To celebrate Small Business Saturday this weekend we are offering a free tote bag for anyone who signs up for a vegetable share on November 30th.  Check out our website for more information.

Already signed up for the 2020 season?  Great!  Did you know that you can refer a friend and get $25 in extra credits?  Your friend gets $25 in credits too!  Visit your member profile to get a unique link to send to all your friends.

For many years now, I have purchased our Thanksgiving turkey from Sunrise Valley Organics in Stockbridge.  Rose and Keith are amazing people and raising free range turkeys isn't easy!  They do a great job and each year it makes our Thanksgiving dinner even more special to know that we are supporting another local farm.  How many local items will you have on your Thanksgiving table?

Happy Thanksgiving!
