Toe-may-tow...Toe-mah-tow

Posted on August 27th, 2019 by Robyn Calvey

Hey Tomato Heads!

Tis the season.  We are harvesting thousands of toe-may-tows now-a-days: cherries, romas, pastes and slicers.  Tomato season is long awaited and can be short here in Wisco so enjoy them while you can!  Check out this weeks FARM VIDEO with Tomato footage.

Due to the cool wet weather we are experiencing some fungal diseases creeping in to the tomato fields.  Early blight has shown up and we are treating it with a organic approved fungicide that is basically hydrogen peroxide and vinegar.  This won't rid us of the blight but it will help to slow down the spread. But enough about the demise of the tomatoes which is coming in October...lets talk about how you can order more tomatoes NOW.

To order BULK TOMATOES, fill out our fancy but super easy to complete BULK TOMATO ORDER FORM

We have slicers, romas and paste available at the following prices:
15 lb box is $22.50 ($1.50/lb)
30 lb box is $45.00 ($1.50/lb)
45 lb box is $56.25 ($1.25/lb)
60 lb box is $60.00 ($1.00/lb)

Once you complete the form, you can call the farm to make a credit card payment over the phone.  Orders must be paid by credit card over the phone before we can pack and prepare them.  LUCKY YOU!  This season, we are delivering orders to members pickup locations so you don't have to come all the way to the farm if is not in our zip code. So if you place a bulk tomato order and pay for it, we can send it to your veggie share pick up location along with your share on an upcoming week ($5 handling charge applied).  This pick up option luxury and only applicable to our members.

Have friends that need tomatoes?  Great!  Send them the link and they can order too.  They just have to come to the farm or our Appleton Farm Market stand to pick up.

Have a Safe and Happy Labor Day Weekend!

(and thanks to the farm crew for laboring through the upcoming holiday weekend like all the rest #veggiesdonttakeholidays)
