Farm Happenings for December 14, 2020

Posted on December 9th, 2020 by Tim Vrieselaar

Only 2 weeks left of deliveries until Christmas break. I know it won't be big family dinners this year...but that doesn't need to stop you from eating healthy....

We would love to hear your feedback on last weeks addition of oranges and broccoli and what you thought of the new apple varieties??  Feel free to send us ideas of other crops you would like to see us grow or source for you.

The Johnny's Seed Order information has arrived.  We are going to get that small order placed within the next week ...and then we will be waiting to hear from William Dam Seeds for the rest of the seed for the 2021 growing season.

We sincerely hope you are all doing well in your current situations.  I will admit... knowing that more restrictions were coming was definitely not helping the outlook for many people this week....me included!    True ..we live on a farm and my heart goes out to those of you who do not have the outdoor space that we are blessed with!!! After school on Tuesday I finally tossed in the towel and took the kids to Park Lake to watch the sunset.  It was a very chilly wind...but we got some amazing pictures for Andrew's photo contest (hence the picture of the kids in the sunset) and we all came home calm and refreshed.  The fresh air really does help our minds and bodies.  I would like to challenge everyone to do your best to think of your friends and neighbors and try to make someone smile this weekend.  Step out of your way to do a kindness for someone else.  We do not know the burdens that others are carrying - - As my daughters autograph book says..."If you see someone without a smile...give them on of yours."

Back to farm news...plans are well underway to get you local veggies again in January...stay tuned while we get the registration form built and we will give you updates once things are all figured out (so far...delivery system will basically stay the same...biggest change is probably going to be the insulated boxes we are going to invest in so that no one has food the gets frozen this winter.

Speaking of frozen...looks like a good week to order blueberries...they should stay safe in the cooler temperatures.

Take care...stay safe and warm...and remember my challenge...brighten someone else's day....and it will brighten yours!
