First Delivery of Season 2 - the main summer season

Posted on August 18th, 2019 by Tim Vrieselaar

Hello again everyone.

It's time to kick of the main summer season at Noble Gardens.  We are glad to have you joining us to share in all the bounty that summer is supplying.  We see a full cooler most days and our crew is working very hard to keep up with all the harvesting!!

Summer brings beans, peas, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, cabbage, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cukes and soon the first carrots will be coming out of the ground as well.  It is a season with lots of variety!! Enjoy!!

yellow beans

The yellow beans.  This year we have dark green, yellow, purple and light green beans.  Lots of variety!

We hope to see many of you each week - and a thank you to the Southwood members who are doing a fantastic job so far with a self-serve delivery system this year!!  As our kids grow up we have more of them working away from home each year (we believe it is good for kids to have someone else for their boss - - and us as their parents).  This year Reuben is the oldest one home (and at 14 he's really enjoying his time in the gardens this year).  Because we are short of "big kids" on the farm is has been difficult to keep the Southwood location manned.  But things seem to be going smoothly (even though we do miss seeing our faithful members each week ;)  Thanks for your cooperation!

For this new season most things will continue as usual - don't forget your bags each week!  Remember to bring back the large boxes if you have gotten them - they are being will reused this year!  We also always accept the 1dozen size egg cartons.

squash rows

The squash rows look really nice after the isles get mowed.  Remember zucchinis are a summer crop - first frost and they will be done with no more till next year!! Enjoy them in stirfries, raw, stuffed, and don't forget to shred some for the freezer for zucchini cake this winter!

We hope to continue harvesting all the goodies that the gardens are producing and share them with you from week to week.  Enjoy the veggies!! And many thanks for all your support!
