Fruiting on the urban farm July 20th 2020

Posted on July 19th, 2020 by Timothy Lyon

Cherry tomatoes, yes! Cucumbers, yippee! Peppers,, eggplant, zucchini here they come. Long awaited warm season crops are starting to yield, and we'll be getting them to you as soon as we can. Garlic will be coming out this week too, hard on the heels of the scapes we've been enjoying.

We have a delay between lettuce green crops, but they should be back next week. In the interim, please enjoy your braising greens with a little butter and salt.

Herbs: Let them dry and set them by! Easily preserve some of the bounty you're getting now by drying herbs ready for Winter seasoning. Simply hang in bunches until crisp, or leave on a sheet of newspaper in the fridge, or dry in a dehydrator. Seal in airtight jar and label.

Wish you could taste the produce right in the field? You can. Come out and help us with a bit of fieldwork and taste whatever we're harvesting that day. To schedule, text or call Tim on 613.876.3125.

Please, if you receive anything in your share you're not delighted with let us know! Especially if we haven't mentioned it here in the Happening, or via e-mail.
