Farm Happenings at Kilt Farm
Back to Farm Happenings at Kilt Farm

Moving into a new phase of the year.

Each week brings new challenges, new learning and new experiences on a farm. Farming in Boulder County brings some unique challenges such as trying to staff a farm in an area with such a high cost of living. Farms are not naturally places where living wages are the norm but in Boulder County Colorado we strive to make sure that our employees are well compensated, well trained and well cared for through out the season. Still this week saw a steep drop off in staffing for a few days and it took all week to recover.

Gratefully my staff and I are resilient, hard working and as efficient as we can be in producing food. We have made huge strides all season the quality, quantity and varieties of the food the leaves the farm. Now as we head towards fall we are harvesting, cleaning and storing as fast as we can. Today we started curing our onions as we process our garlics and our shallots. Soon our greenhouse will be filled with winter squash slowing curing.

Through it all we know that no one week will be the same to another and we are always ready to embrace the next challenge, pivot and change.

Thank you for your support.
