Farm Happenings for September 13, 2021

Posted on September 10th, 2021 by Jenny Jackson

Welcome to the Fall CSA Season! We've got some late summer crops for you this week, including one of my all time favorite things we grow: baby ginger! This tropical treat doesn't have a skin so no need to peel it. It doesn't last as long in refrigeration as mature ginger so if you don't use it in 2 weeks, freeze it. (And then don't thaw when you use it frozen, just grate it straight from the freezer). We enjoy it in salad dressings, in stir fry, curry, baked goods, or anywhere a spicy kick of ginger is needed! Tulsi is proudly holding some freshly dug ginger in this picture.

If you haven't yet, be sure to go into your Harvie account and set your preferences! This system uses an algorithm based on how you rate each item to determine what goes into your share. Of course, you can always customize it once you receive the email I'll be sending every Friday evening, but just in case you miss the chance to customize, if you take the time to rate your preferences you'll be sure to get more of what you want and less of what you don't prefer! Each week, you'll have from Monday evening until Thursday morning at 6:30 am to customize your share!

Thanks so much for choosing our farm to provide your family with fresh, nutritious food this fall!
