Farm Happenings for August 3rd, 2020

Posted on July 31st, 2020 by Jenny Jackson

This is a picture of Tulsi playing florist while I (Jenny) harvested these gorgeous Lisianthus flowers last Friday morning. We saw some poke berries on the way to the flowers and made some purple streaks in her hair :) These are rose like blooms that thrive in our heat and also have very long vase life. If you've ordered a bouquet the past few weeks you've no doubt admired these beauties! Looks like they will be part of the bouquets for the next couple of weeks as they're still blooming like crazy.

Many thanks for those of you who have ordered the flowers as an "extra" here on Harvie. It's really fun for me to work with a whole new crop and the beauty of them is refreshing, especially this time of year when coaxing veggies out of the ground is a challenge to say the least. Pests, disease, and heat really take a toll on the plants and our bodies, so going to the prolific flower patch helps relieve the summer time blues!

Only 2 more weeks for CSA! We are figuring out how our fall season will work out with baby boy arriving in late September and will be letting you know within next week when the Fall CSA will start and how to secure your spot.
