Farm Happenings for September 28, 2023

Posted on September 24th, 2023 by Ilene Freedman

Last Summer CSA week...Next week the fall season CSA starts...Next year the summer and fall CSA will be combined into one, for 26 weeks! at the same price per week!   This week we have sweet potatoes, Decorative gourds, turnips, chard, arugula, tatsoi!

This week is the last CSA pickup for our main season CSA. Then Fall CSA begins, Oct 5-Nov 18. Join Fall CSA now to enjoy our fall bounty.

Next year summer and fall seasons will be combined for the full 26 week growing season, like most CSAs do. We were just taking a few trial years to build up our fall growing. Now we are ready for you!

Renewals for next year will begin in October. Do you have some friends who would enjoy CSA next year? Help us spread the word to your friends.

Decorative gourds?? We grow toys! The streak of lettuce harvest continues? Phil has been a lettuce magician, through the summer heat and the drought of 2023. Grateful for his persistence.

Pie pumpkins are limited, we hope everyone who wants one can get one. We have lots of butternut though. Did you know butternut squash can be substituted for pumpkin in any recipe, even pie? Works great!

Thank you all for your support of our local farm and for joining the adventure of eating straight from the farm!

After all this rain, we will let the soil dry. We might host a dig Sunday Oct 8 afternoon. Keep posted for confirmation of the invitation to dig in the treasure hunt.

It's time NOW to sign up for Fall Extension shares so you can enjoy the harvest through October and November. Anticipated harvests for fall include bodacious greens, sweet potatoes and butternut squash, broccoli, cauliflower and more. You can include farm fresh ingredients in your Thanksgiving feast!
