WATERMELON!

We are cracking open the first watermelons this week. Our variety is Crimson, a pink delicious watermelon. With real seeds. The patch is looking good, we anticipate watermelons for a few weeks. Our sons used to grow and sell the watermelons. They have grown up and now we grow the melons as a special CSA item. Enjoy.

WHAT'S GROWING ON

Heat-loving August crops include peppers, eggplant and summer squash. Tomatoes too, but we start ours early so they tend to wane early. We are past the peak but they will likely continue to ripen for us. Just not at peak quantities at this point in the season. We are going to work on spreading out our plantings to stretch the season more. Greens are rough in August when bug pressure is peak, so they are dropping off the offerings. Perhaps more in September and likely bountiful greens for Fall Extension.

FALL EXTENSION SHARE

Time to sign up for your Fall Extension Share! We determine our plantings based on those numbers, so please let us know if you are in for our wonderful October-November share. You will get lots of greens, garlic, onions, potatoes, butternut squash, sweet potatoes and hopefully another planting of cauliflower and broccoli! Fall is the best harvest time for cauli-broccoli. Sign up on Harvie. Message me for assistance signing up.

POTATO DIG WAS DUG!

All three rows of potatoes are harvested. We had fun digging potatoes with those of you who got your hands dirty and dug the treasure with us! Another chance at our fall sweet potato dig, so watch for details about that. Probably in October.
