This is the last CSA Harvest, but we will continue to offer our produce to you for sale through our virtual Farm Stand. Ordering will feel very much like customizing a CSA share.  Sign-up for next year will be happening soon! Look for emails so you don’t miss sign-up.

Saving Sweet Potatoes for the Zombie Apocalypse

Sweet potatoes can last months in your house.  They like cool and dry conditions with good air flow, NOT in the fridge.  Individually wrapping them in newspaper helps them keep longer because one bad sweet potato can’t spoil the bunch.  We do not wash our sweet potatoes before we distribute them to CSA members.  This is so they will keep longer for you.  Their ability to store well decreases after they have been washed.  So brush them off now and save the washing for cooking day.

Pie Pumpkins

This week there are pie pumpkins!  These are sweeter and more meaty than the Jack-o-lantern pumpkins you buy for Halloween.  They are great for making soup, pies and muffins.
