CSA Week #15 - Customize

Posted on August 30th, 2023 by Bonnie and Rudy Geber

Well, we think we've made it through the bulk of melon season! This past week was a bumper crop with over 1,000lbs harvested! But our first block is about done producing, so we're starting the inevitable decline in melon yields. But we will still have melons for a bit, so be sure to get your  fix while they last! This week, we'll have quite a bit more variety available in winter squash and our yellow storage onions (Patterson), red onions should be ready by next week.

Rudy and Bonnie are headed off presently to enjoy a WHOLE weekend of camping! It's monumental for us to be off the farm entirely at this time in the season, so we're really looking forward to it. Needless to say, if something isn't working with your Harvie profile or if you have a question, be patient and we'll get back to you either Sunday night or Monday morning!

Be sure  to customize your box for next week (or to purchase a one-time Farm Stand box), or don't! Some people love the surprise of finding out what they get when they pick up. We do have a warning this week, we anticipate a week or two of 'salad shortage'. That means that we're going to buckle down and try to meet our regular wholesale salad orders and anything left we will have to take to market. The problem is, we're not even sure that there will be much if any left over so we can't allot any to the boxes this week. We're still planting salad like crazy - twice this week! - so we certainly will get back into the salad mix as soon as we can. In the meantime, if we do manage to harvest some mix, just request it when you pick up and Rudy will grab a bag! This week, we have lots of great items from other local producers, including:

- Bread and Bagels from The Gracious Table

- Farm Fresh Eggs from the Miller Farm

- Honey from McLaury Apiaries

- Apple Butter, from Farm to Market Store, made right here in Libby!

- Locally Raised Breakfast sausage (delicious!!), Hot Italian sausage (also very tasty!), ground pork sausage and pork chops from Double N Farms

- Beautiful dahlia bouquets from yours truly!

Cheers, Rudy & Bonnie
