Week 4 Autumn CSA - Last week of Autumn Deliveries!

Posted on November 13th, 2020 by Bethany Allen

Well, we've made it to another end - this week is brings the last of the Autumn share deliveries!  It's been a wonderful fall, for the most part, the weather has been wonderful.  It's been a warm and mild end to the busy season.  This has made the large bulk harvest at the end of the season more enjoyable and less of the slog it can sometimes seem when the weather hovers around freezing.  I can't believe how productive and fun this week has been, so mush has been harvested and tucked away for winter.  Lots of loose ends have been tidied up - we've started soil testing so we can plan for next season's crops and fertility, we had and passed our yearly organic inspection, and we moved our wash-pack area from our three season space, to our greenhouse so now we can head into winter with fewer worries.

This week's share is loosely Thanksgiving themed in that it's got all the veggies you need for your (likely parred down) meal this year.  We've got lots of winter squash, pumpkins, potatoes, onions, rutabaga, greens and more!

Who loves stuffing?  Try spicing up your stuffing recipe with some under-appreciated fennel!  This recipe is one of our favs:  https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/classic-herb-and-fennel-stuffing

Make a pumpkin pie with a pumpkin from your farm!  A little more work, a TON more flavor!  https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/suzannes_old_fashioned_pumpkin_pie/

For extras this week - COFFEE IS BACK!  We've been on a hiatus as we caught our breath and focused on veggies for a bit, but it's back and I AM EXCITED.  We drink a lot of coffee in our house and Moses Dyer is really the best.  We have  a dark and medium roast available, each bag is a full pound which is 4 oz (or 33%) more than an average bag of coffee.  All coffee is whole bean and it is all roasted locally in Harpswell with organic, fair trade beans.
