Autumn Share Delivery 3 - it's getting chilly! - Winter Share Sign-ups open!

Posted on October 30th, 2020 by Bethany Allen

Bundle up!  We've got some unseasonably cold weather coming in tonight and next week.  Our crew spent the last few days racing around covering veggies with row cover (which we also use in the spring) and harvesting to bring crops into storage before this cold night.

Colder weather is a reminder that winter is on it's way, and as such our Winter Harvest sign-ups have opened up.  This is the latest that we've ever opened shares, because, honestly, it's been a tough year, one of the toughest. For many of us I'm sure.  We're certainly feeling happy and very very grateful to have made it this far, and we're really looking forward to some of the rest and coziness that come with winter.

Winter shares are a fun new adventure in local eating. They are a great way to get more familiar with the veggies Maine provides us.  They are also a great time, with the darker nights and colder weekends, to try new recipes and new veggies.  There are, or course, lots of soups and roasts, but I've also got some great, fresh recipes to share - winter veggie spring rolls, apple kale salad, and kohlrabi fritters are three of my favorites!

And this winter, we've got a few exciting new changes:

1) We're offering home delivery - Yay!  Customers have been requesting this for a while and with the world as it is, we thought we'd take a swing at it.

2) We're working hard to expand what we offer in addition to veggies.  This winter you'll see all kinds of grains, dairy (milk!  butter!), preserves, and more.  We're excited to work with all kinds of local partners to make local fresh food as convenient as possible and your CSA box as delicious as ever!
