Farm Happenings for September 28, 2023

Posted on September 23rd, 2023 by Greg Stainton

Hi everyone.

Have you ever seen a sleeping bee?  With the cooler nights and later sunrise, this week for the first time I saw bees, asleep in the flowers, before the sun had warmed them up enough to start their day.

The cooler nights and shorter days have also brought about some changes in our gardens.  Our tomato plants that have been faithfully producing all summer long reached the end of their season so we have cleaned out the tomato greenhouse to prepare it for our winter production.  Our brussels sprouts, fall cabbages, spicy salad mix, Romanesco cauliflower, squash, ground cherries and okra are all coming along nicely and should be on the menu of options during the last five weeks of the regular season.

This week we are offering many member faves and have our first harvest of broccoli to share with you!

Wishing everyone a great week!

Kate and Greg.
