Farm Happenings for June 22, 2023

Posted on June 17th, 2023 by Greg Stainton

Hello Harmony Farm Members!

Our garden is bursting with variety right now; there will be lots of options for this week’s farm shares:).

We are pretty excited about our first harvest of tomatoes. We will have our first mini harvest this week and then expect to have tomatoes every week for the rest of the summer. This week we will also have our first appearance of fennel (delicious in a slaw with kohlrabi and scallion).

For those of you interested in meats and eggs, we will have new pork sausages arriving shortly and have purchased a breeding flock of Bresse chickens and a commercial egg incubator in the hopes of offering what has been called the best chicken in world by autumn 2023. Our new hens have also settled in to the hen house so we should see a bump in egg production in the coming weeks.

If you see or make a recipe with your seasonal veggies this week that you love for any reason (easy/delicious/the kids will eat it!) please consider posting it on the Harmony Farm Recipe Sharing Group (or tag us and we will share it!). We will also keep posting some ideas for inspiration on our harmony_farming Instagram “highlights” section.

Thanks for a great first week of our farm share full season! We have enjoyed meeting many of you at pick up times at the farm and the market and really appreciate all of your support and feedback!

Have a great week,

Kate, Greg and the Harmony Farm team
