Farm Happenings for June 9, 2020

Posted on June 6th, 2020 by Stephanie Bradshaw

This week we are happy to see more "new additions" to our harvest.  We hope to see more and more summer produce being introduced over the next several weeks.  These long, hot days will start pushing more and more of our veggies to start growing and ripening!  We see tomatoes by the end of June!!

We apologize to those of you that may not have received strawberries.  We are learning that strawberries are much harder to judge than we thought.  They truly have a mind - and schedule of their own!  We are doing our best to send everything we have available, but sometimes it just doesn't reach around.  We never anticipated so many of you signing up this season! Had we known last year - we could have doubled our strawberry order and instead of ordering 2500 plants, we would have ordered 5000!  This is one of the many reasons that your continued support is so important!  Planning for a CSA really starts the year before.  We hope you all will stick with us for many years to come!

We have been receiving so many encouraging emails - thank you for taking the time to drop us a line!  We do love hearing from our members!  We have also had numerous request for more eggs, jams and jellies, pastured meats, etc.  We hope to offer more items very soon.  Our eggs are not real plentiful right now, but we have some younger hens that should start laying soon.  We hope to have our meat birds going to the processor in July, a few hogs and hopefully some beef before the season is over.  Getting an appointment with a processor has been a challenge.

This is a picture of Pearl and my oldest son and nephew riding her.  She's one of the sweetest horses....and always a "big" hit on Family Farm Day!  We hope to plan another Farm Day this fall!
