Farm Happenings for October 6, 2020

Posted on October 2nd, 2020 by Patricia Gladney-Heatherington

So the world is progressing down crazy lane at warp speed these days.. I will refrain from analysis as I am sure you have had a belly full by now. but hope all of you plan to play a role in the election this year...

Onto better thoughts ... the holidays! They are coming up and we have decided to change our schedule up a bit as so many of our members are house bound.

  • We will be coming on our regular delivery days for the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Christmas week will be the end of the Fall season
  • After a 2 week rest for Christmas and the New Year (our reset season!)... we will start our Pre-Season Winter program for January and February (more on this coming later this month)
  • If you are planning on taking off for the holidays you can put a "hold" on those weeks or let me know via email (farmersfreshfood@yahoo.com) the weeks you need to take off. As a reminder -- there is no need to re-schedule those "on hold" deliveries and you will not be charged for them.

... and a Thanksgiving turkey to go with the holidays... we are planning on getting a few pastured/non-GMO fed turkeys from Carlton Farms this year. Due to the COVID-19 issues at the meat processing plants we are expecting the birds to be frozen so that we are sure to get them in time. We are planning to deliver them on your regular delivery day Wednesday November 18 (frozen) or Tuesday November 24 (unfrozen). Also they are unbrined so we will be sending along some brining instructions. These birds are expected to be between 18 and 22# so enough for a large family or for plenty of leftovers! Cost is $6/# with a $25 deposit to reserve for Thanksgiving.
