Farm Happenings for July 15, 2020

Posted on July 12th, 2020 by Marnie Chown

Yay it rained!!! Everything including the weeds perked up a bit after the rain we got, it was wonderful!!! :)

This past week and weekend were pretty darn productive! We trimmed all the tomatoes in the big greenhouse, seeded some crops for September, did lots of weeding (it's never-ending), got our second walk-in cooler finished (now we can store veggies at two different temperatures..luxurious right?!), planted some shrubs to create windrow and habitat, scoured the potatoes for potato beetles (I squished TONS) and of course did our regular harvest/wash/pack routine. We are pooped!

The tomatoes look great and are starting to ripen nicely.

Please remember that we harvest tomatoes that are NOT QUITE RIPE. They will ripen to your desired tenderness at room temperature. Some of the beefsteaks are wrinkly and more firm on the top so I tend to put them upside down on my kitchen counter.
