I've mentioned before how we were planning to sell vouchers to pick strawberries as part of our plan to keep everyone housed and paid through the winter. Well, they're ready! And none too soon, as our trailer was stolen last week and Tractor Supply has declined to provide credit. So the first purchase from selling vouchers will be another trailer, at $700-900. *sigh*
Ian will be moving onto the farm this week, and that should deter any future theft. Once we have another trailer, the next purchase will be supplies for a couple of yurts - one for me and one for Ian, at $3000 each. Because despite his, "I grew up in Alaska, I can put a tarp over my tent and be fine in the winter" talk, I don't feel ethically ok with having anyone working for me living through the winter in a tent. I'm not really ok with him living in a tent, period, but he needs out of his current situation asap and I don't have funds on hand to build him something now. And my living situation isn't entirely stable either, so it'll be yurts all around!
