Early Winter Farm Share for December 7-8, 2022

Posted on December 4th, 2022 by Gail and Maurice Smith

Happy sunny day to everyone.  We feel like we have went through the loop this past week and have survived the experiences.  Maurice is feeling much better from his Covid stint and thanks everyone for their encouraging comments.  We both have been vaccinated and thoroughly boosted given our ages and all.  The snowstorm on Tuesday left about 7 inches of that shiny white stuff all over our ground.  The last challenge of the week.....deliveries on Friday ended about 11:30pm on Friday night in a motel room in downtown Mpls.  Whew!  We are getting to old for this....anybody want to buy a farm?  Two days worth of deliveries in one day was a lot of work.

This week we are introducing the latest member of our family.  Cooper is 6 months old and 60 pounds.  Here he is learning about technology with Maurice.  He knows how to pick figs off the trees in the greenhouses and eat them.  Also can pick sweet corn and carefully peel back the green leaves and hold the cob in his paws and eat the corn. Super smart dog.  He can open doors and greets people with great enthusium.  He lives mostly outside where a Siberian Huskie belongs, but, loves a bit of inside time with his pack.  He has forward and backwards in walking, running and bouncing on all 4 legs. Rides in the 6 wheeler and pretty much goes everywhere with Gail. Gail is planning on finding classes to teach him to pull her on a sled.  Smarts and enthusiasm need direction!

Supplies of some squashes are dwindling.  Broccoli has reached into the past.  Most roots are still available this week.  Don't forget about parsnips and rutabagas.  Still have a few of Larry's turkeys on hand for Christmas dinner or making up lots of turkey stock for winter soups.  Gail is still creating winter weaths for your door or a gift to someone else.

As always have a great week and you are always welcome to come for a visit.
