Farm Happenings for September 28, 2022

Posted on September 25th, 2022 by Gail and Maurice Smith

Good day from DragSmith Farms.  Sorry for the delay in getting this out today.  Maurice and I are up north today.  Northland lodge near Hayward Wi. No internet service until you go into the lodge and connect there.  The lake looks cold and windy.  The sky is full of clouds dotted with some blue sky.  Earlier we were treated to a wine/cheese train ride in Trego, Wi.  A very small get away before we start hauling lage quanities of squash out of the fields.  That's lots of work.  Fight the weeds that came up between the plants, stick the squash treasures in a five gallon pail, haul the pail to a palet bin, wipe the mud off and carefully place the squash into the bin for curing.  We place the bins on the west side of our Red Shed where the sun can warm them for curing.  The last crop of broccolini is popping up.  The cauliflowers are coming along,so, this week we aren't sure which one you will see in your box.  Will be listed as cauliflower....it may be sprouting, white or romanesco.  Lavender and cheddar cauliflower is coming.

As always, have a great week and come see us at the farm.
