Farm Share Week 18 of 20

Posted on October 17th, 2021 by Gail and Maurice Smith

Frosty morning greets us this Sunday.  Greetings to all.  The above photo reflects the anticipation of frost.  Connor, the young one, off from school for parent-teacher conferences is in the field with the "Produce Squad" taste testing peppers.  We literally ripped the plants up and plucked all the remaining peppers off the plants.  Our quick response to weather changes was definitely a good decision.  This morning we were greeted with 28 degrees and a white frosty morning.

These next 3 deliveries will give you the opportunity to stock up on storage crops.  Keep your potatoes, beets, carrots, squashes, radishes, cabbages, onions, turnips, and ground cherries in a cool place.  Root cellars are the best.  Soup time has arrived!  We will be sending out information on an Early Winter Farm Share that can help you through the holidays.

Another thing to consider.  It is time to plant those pollinator plants for next summer's butterfly, bee and good predator attractions.  Get rid of a grass corner in your yard and plant some natives.  Not only do the bees enjoy the flowers, so do we.  We have many varieties for sale in our greenhouses.  Come for a visit and check them out.

Notice, we have added a Baby Minibutternut squash to our list.  Each squash is soooo cute....if squash can be cute.  Individual serving.  Can use first for a fall table decoration, then eat 'em!

Take Care and as always have a great week and come for a visit.
