Farm Share Week 10

Posted on August 22nd, 2020 by Gail and Maurice Smith

Happy Birthday to Maurice!  None of us can believe it...he is 75 years old.....and still farming.  Goes to prove the average age of the American farmer is OLD!!  Just to add to that thought, DragSmith Farms is actively looking for the next generation farmer.  Hand the awesome job of feeding people, educating people and giving people a place call home to you.  At any rate we are looking, talking and listening.

The photo from in front of Greenhouse One is an example of how far we have come in one year. DragSmith Farms one year ago, laid in a pile of wet twisted plastic and metal.  The insurance company asked us not to move things around to much until they were able to look the tornado damage over.  We weren't the only farmers smashed and flattened and waited our turn for their inspection.  This area that looks so pretty now with all the flowers replaced.  Think it is a bit ironic...the "Produce Squad" weeded this week....but, look in the flower wheel barrow in the front of the photo....a big weed! Most of these flowers are used in the edible flower mix that you have been enjoying in your farm share box.

Several new veggies are in the selections for this week.  Take a look.  Have a great week.
