Farm Happenings for November 18, 2021

Posted on November 14th, 2021 by Michael Hoke

Some early snow on the farm, but we are still pulling a lot of veggies out of the field.  For a lot of items that are a bit cold sensitive (like swiss chard and choi) this is likely the end of outdoor harvest for them this week.  But we have plenty of stuff growing strong in our greenhouse and unheated hoophouses! We are happy to report that our garlic is all planted and our potatoes are (finally) fully harvested.  So now we turn our attention to work in our greenhouse and getting all the farm operation ready for winter (which includes installing a heater in the barn, yay!)

A reminder that our Winter shares are now available to order:

We will of course continue going to the Market at Western Fair and we'll have our "farmstand" orders open for farm pickup every week.  BUT, we will have subscription shares available every other week for pickup or delivery.

Space is limited and the frequency and size of shares is different, so we will not be automatically renewing anyone's subscription for this.  We will auto-renew in the winter for the main season which will begin again in May.

Winter 2022 share Details:

  • 2 sizes, small ($39) and large ($59)
  • bi-weekly shares starting January 6th and going until April 28th
  • farmstand (one-time) orders also available, BUT
  • subscription shares get first pick of available produce and winter greens!
  • Large share subscriptions come with a free Common Ground Farm toque (while supplies last)

Please don't delay in signing up as we have limited space for the winter (mainly because we want to ensure we have plenty of winter salad greens for everyone).  We have opened this up for existing members only for the next week.

As always thank you for supporting us and if you have any questions let me know!
