Farm Happenings for December 8, 2022

Posted on December 5th, 2022 by Chris DeVries

Only 3 weeks left in our 2022 CSA season!  One thing you will notice is that the mix of vegetables available from the farm is changing and although we've passed our peak variety season (which is surprisingly October and November!) we still have a lot of great stuff here on the farm.  Buying locally grown produce is definitely an adjustment from what we are used to where everything is available anytime, but one thing we and many of our members have found is that exploring what is in-season gives us a better appreciation for the vegetables.  Despite that we are going to bring in other products you can add to your shares that are not grown on our farm (and a few are even grown far away) but our goal is to round out a share of vegetables that is still primarily from our farm or very close by!  We hope you like the mix we have available but of course we welcome any feedback!

This week from Pfennings, certified organic: lemons, limes, oranges, bananas, as well as apples and cranberries from Quebec.  From local farms (Aylmer): butternut squash, sweet potatoes, red potatoes, onions.

We also have dried herbs and dried tomatoes and chillis from our abundance this past summer!
