Farm Happenings for July 15, 2021

Posted on July 11th, 2021 by Michael Hoke

Wow, what a wet summer we've had so far! It's hard to get our weeding done with our wet field conditions, but luckily, there's always something to do on the farm. Minor renovations are underway on our barn and we're still keeping busy with daily farm tasks. We have an enormous amount of basil this week! Now is the time for making pesto! Speaking of herbs, we'll have mixed herb bundles this week, featuring sage, rosemary, thyme and marjoram. These are great for adding to your roasted vegetables! We've got lots of bunching onions and cabbage to round out your order and flavour your dishes. Fresh garlic is newly available this week! It hasn't been cured, but it still has all of the intense garlic flavour you're looking for. Of course, we'll have lots of carrots coming out of the ground. This may be the last chance to get your hands on some Napa cabbage until the fall so best to stock up while you can! Kohlrabi is back on this week as well! Unfortunately, we won't have any cucumbers for a few weeks, but we look forward to harvesting them again sometime soon! Don't forget to grab some flowers from our garden of your picking up at the farm!

Blueberry season has just begun, so we'll have pints from Bluegroves on our list this week. From Pfennings, we will have celery and broccoli.

Thank you for all of your support,
Sarah
