September Farm Partner Promo Continues this Week!!

How It Works:

Did you know that September is Hunger Action Month?  Did you also know that CVO has already donated more than 1,000 lbs. of vegetables to people in need this summer?  This September, we will be partnering with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  For every $10 of farm partner extras sold during the month of September, CVO will donate one organic canned good to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank!  We are setting a goal of 200 cans of organic vegetables!! We can do this with your support!

It's time to stock up on fall items like Pumpkin Butter and Spiced Apple Shrub!

Did you know that we have a Farm Market & Cafe along the Panhandle Trail in Burgettstown?

Come and see us this month as we raise awareness for Hunger Action Month!  We are all decked out for fall, and we'll be collecting donations of non-perishable food items until the end of September!

Updates from the Farm

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous this week, and it's a gentle reminder that we love farming in the fall.  Although our pace has not slowed down just yet, we love working in these cooler temperatures and we hope that we have put the dog days of summer behind us.  We are happy to see some warmer temps in the forecast for this coming week though, since we need a bit warmer temperatures through September to ripen the late plantings of tomatoes and keep the peppers producing until October.  We also have late plantings of beans, cucumbers, and specialty summer squash that we hope make it to maturity.  It wasn't just the humans and dogs struggling through that 90 degree heat and humidity in August.  ;-)  And then, there's those five thousand sunflowers that will be flowering in the next couple weeks!

Believe it or not, we are also gearing up for the holiday season (yikes!) and making many of our value-added products, including herb-infused vinegars (coming back in a few weeks), drying our culinary herbs, packaging herbal tea, making lip balms, soaps, and a few new products (teaser alert!) for sales throughout the Pittsburgh area during the fall festival and holiday shopping seasons.  This type of revenue is critically important for our farm (as for many farms) to keep our team and our bills paid through the winter months.  If you haven't tried any of our value-added products yet, you're missing out!  We actually do make all of these products by hand ourselves, and we use the highest quality organic ingredients, grown or sourced by us.  Which of our products will you try this week?

Have a great week everyone, and thank you again for being a farm share member this season!!
