Happy summer!

We hope you’ve been enjoying our grassfed goodness and organically grown veggies.

Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we love feeding you!

Here on the farm, we have been busy with the abundance that summer gives us. We are grateful that our animals are healthy, for the rain and sunshine, and the good work we get to do every day.

** For our meat share members, regarding BEEF: We are using up the last of our inventory. in the past few months we have struggled to keep a variety of beef in your shares due to the slaughterhouses being adversely affected by COVID. However, we are overjoyed to announce that a brand-new certified humane USDA slaughterhouse has opened just 30 minutes from us! We will be stocking new beef into our freezers in mid-June that you will see in your July shares. This is all to say, please review your shares and swap to make sure you get what you want. All we have left in the beef freezer is large “family-sized” (4-6lb) packs of steaks (t-bone, ribeye, porterhouse), ground beef, and sausage.

As we are a small farm, certain cuts will run out from time to time.
And, as a small farm, we are so thankful for each one of our members. Thank you all for bearing with us. We insure that you’ll be happy with the variety and quality of beef in the months to come!

For updates as far as vegetables, we have so many yummy food going into the ground and lots that are finally growing out!! Squash, tomatoes, and cucumbers will be making their appearance into your boxes. A lot of work goes into planting and growing all your food so be sure to give everything in your box a taste. You might realize you love something you had never even heard of!

We'll see you all next week!

Don’t forget to leave it your freezer bag out, we'll reuse them to continue packing your meat!

And be sure to follow us on Instagram to keep up with all the new life happening on the farm

Spinach

More color almost always equals more nutrition.  Compare spinach and iceberg lettuce, for example.  Spinach, the darker green, has more protein, fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, vitamin C, folate, vitamin A and vitamin K.  Very versatile, spinach can be used raw in a salad, sandwich topping, or in a cooked meat or vegetable dish.  Dark green leaves like spinach, collards, kale, etc, are an important feature of the MIND diet.  Their powerful antioxidants help improve cognition, slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, and protect against plaques that cause senility.  We generally think of mental health as a result of therapy, mental acuity exercises, or avoiding depression or anxiety.  Think of the benefits of combining nutrition to support the physical structures of the brain, and counseling and mindfulness to support the narrative and emotional composition.  So as you include this high-nutrient leaf in your next meal, savor the flavor and remember just how much this little leaf can build your brain.
