Farm Happenings for June 16, 2020

Posted on June 14th, 2020 by Rae Strobel Barr

Things are shifting here as the summer solstice approaches.   We started irrigating this last week as some of the more mature crops are needing more water.  There is Cauliflower in this weeks share, although it may look different than what you might get at the store.    Colors (purple and off white) in this cauliflower are due to some challenges of growing this crop in the heat (and also a strong freeze when the plants were small).   But the flavor is great!   Summer crops are hopefully maturing faster now too, so look for squash to make an appearance.   Tomatoes and cucumbers still have a ways to go.    This is always a difficulty in this time of year, but we are making it happen!
