Good evening farm share folks! I hope you all had a lovely weekend despite the grey days. It has been a good couple of days to relax, reflect, and rejuvenate.
Since our Fall Farm Share is comprised mainly of our own Hanover-grown raspberries, and these raspberries are much different than grocery store raspberries, I thought I would share some tips on how to keep these fragile delicacies tasty for multiple days. Keeping raspberries in the fridge is the best way to keep them fresh and delicious, but for an even longer extended life span, it is recommended to lay them flat on a baking sheet and store them this way.
It is not recommended to keep them in an airtight container, as their moisture will have no place to escape to, resulting in quicker rot and mold results.
Raspberries are also a great fruit to freeze! They can be put in the freezer flat on a baking sheet, and once adequately chilled, can be put in freezer bags. A popular smoothie berry, these raspberries blend up well no matter what time of year.
Now, onto this weeks standard share. You all will be receiving 2 half pints of red raspberries, 1 quart of Hosui Asian pears, and 1 quart of Fuji apples. Swaps available are Honey Crisp apples, Jonagold apples, Sunrise pears, Crimson Crisp apples, and Rinker's Apple Cider.
Extras will include all the fruits listed above as well as the tasty Agriblend Oat Bars, Stargell's Apiaries Honey, and our own Apple Butter!
WHAT TO DO IF YOU MISS YOUR PICKUP:
The best thing to do if you miss your pickup or if you know you are going to miss your pickup is to either call (302-668-9352) or email (csa@agriberry.com) me ASAP so that we can arrange to have something worked out. Please do not just show up at another farm share pickup site or on the farm. These will be options, but we need prior notification to make it work.
Membership reminders:
If you pickup on the farm, you have the option to pickup Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 10am-4pm. You do not need to let us know ahead of time.
