Week 5 of our Fall Farm Share... What's fresh this week, and what's to come next!

Posted on October 9th, 2020 by Agriberry Farm

Good evening lovely Agriberry fruit enthusiasts!

We are at the start of our fifth week of our Fall Farm Share! How have we made it here already? It is still March in my mind...

Regardless, the days are getting shorter and cooler, and we are continuing to bring a little bit of sunshine to your tables with delicious fruit!

The standard share for this week is 2 half pints of our own Hanover-grown red raspberries, 1 quart of Honey Crisp apples, and 1 quart of Bosc pears.

Swaps that are available this week are a half gallon of Rinker's Apple Cider from Stephens City, Piney River Gold apples, Fuji apples, JonaGold apples, and Crimson Crisp apples

Our extras include all of the above as well as Pink Lady apples, Stargell's Apiaries Central Virginia honey, and our delicious Agriblend Oat Bars.

Now... Drum roll please... I announce to you all our Holiday Farm Share! Yes, you read that right! Holiday Farm Share, indeed!

What does this mean? Well, let me tell you.

Our Holiday Farm Share will begin the first week of November and go until December 19. It is seven weeks long, total, and the cost per week will be $25 for a single share. The single share will include 4 items. 3 of these items will be at the usual price point of $5 per item, and one item will be at the $10 price point. Each week will include at least two Agriberry items. Apples are sure to be included as well as pears. We also have our favorite apple cider, various jams, applesauce, and oat bars to include in shares.

Here comes the fun... the remaining two items in the share will be sourced from local farmers and producers to highlight heritage variety crops and traditional styles of production.

Each week, we will have a highlight on the farmer/producer we are sourcing from with a little blurb about their product and where to find it if you want to get more!

Our list of partners so far include: Bring Forth Farm specializing in microgreens which ultimately gives back to supporting agricultural training centers in Africa, Delli Carpini Farm specializing in Italian heritage crops, Wild Earth Fermentation with their standby sauerkrauts for a traditional holiday celebration, Manakin Town specializing in salad mixes and herbs, Belmont Peanuts with their famous Virginia peanuts, River City Bakery specializing in pastries using our very own berries, and Sub Rosa Bakery specializing in heirloom grains.

This list is our most up to date of who will be participating with us this holiday season. Of course, like all aspects of agriculture, it is subject to change. Someone may drop off, or we may add in some other producers. So, please, be flexible with us on this :-)

We are also very open to taking suggestions to see what YOU ALL would like!

Our Holiday Farm Share will be capped at 100 members, so if you KNOW that you want in, let me know ASAP so I can get you on our list. We will give our current members first dibs.

Well, that was a lot of information. So I will leave it at that for the time being.
