Farm Happenings for August 17, 2021

Posted on August 13th, 2021 by John Zilnicki

Dog days of August are in full swing as we approach the halfway point of August.  Hopefully we get a storm to knock down this heat as the vegetables, fruit, and farmers are taking a beating this weak.  Yes, its nature of the the profession but hot is hot.

I hope your enjoying the summer bounty as the tomatoes are flowing, the peaches are amazing, and the list continues of fresh amazing produce.  Its also an amazing to can and store summers amazing bounty to save for the winter months when we all crave that fresh local veggie and fruit taste.  Our plum tomatoes are right around the corner, which is a fan favorite for sauce making.

Also, keep a look out for Thursday's Newsday, we will be featured as one of a few farms who grows heirloom tomatoes this year.  We got to do a taste test with them this past week which was a lot of fun.

Enjoy the weekend, stay cool, and enjoy those veggies!
