Farm Happenings for November 16, 2021

Posted on November 8th, 2021 by Emily Asmus

Last night was a fun time in the kitchen. Hazel has had some of her Glass Gem corn in the house for the last couple of weeks. We suspected it was at the right humidity level and tried popping it. It popped great! We can recommend shelling the ears and then popping in a hot skillet with oil or placed in a brown bag in the microwave for 2 minutes. We also tried placing a whole ear, unshelled, in the microwave, out of a bag. Super fun to watch, but a bit of a mess to clean up. Some of the kernels stayed on the cob. Toby liked to eat right off of this pop corn on a stick. The corn bunches are on this weeks list. We'd recommend using as indoor decoration through Thanksgiving and then popping to eat.

We hope you are enjoying your own fall food traditions on these dark evenings.
