Farm Happenings for June 23, 2020

Posted on June 18th, 2020 by Emily Asmus

Can you see the missing squash? Squash gopher is to blame. We're determined to catch it before it eats the plants all the way down the line. We'd rather you got the squash in your boxes then have Squash gopher eat all the roots. Other roots are sizing up nicely. You should see more carrot and beets options starting this week. Legumes are kickin' right now two- you have favas, snow peas, and snap peas this next week. Starting in early July you'll be seeing green beans.

Onions are also available starting this week- Certified organic onions grown by Walla Walla Organics. Thank you farmers Dan and Sarah McClure!

The tea this week by Grateful Herbs in "Allergy Assist Herbal Infusion" Laci writes: "Nettle, my most favored allergy buster is strong and in full force with Rooibos, Peppermint, Elder Flower and Rose Hips. Eyebright is known to help with itchy red eyes and Feverfew with headaches. I brew this very strong and drink as much as I can in one day. I sweeten with local, raw honey for an added sweet oomph. Then I'm usually good for a week or so. Some people like to drink it daily. I find the power dosing works best for me and my hectic life. I give it to my boys in popsicle form. They love it."

There is also a new and fresh this season jam flavor from Miles Away: Strawberry-Rubarb.

Happy eating!!!
