Farm Happenings for August 9, 2023

Posted on August 5th, 2023 by Trent Loewen

I hope you're having a great long weekend! I was glad to hear that Monday is now Saskatchewan Day and not just a Civic Holiday.

This week we're picking beans, although because it's so dry they're not producing a lot. The pattypans are also starting to kick in, lots of those sweet little summer squash coming in now. There's also the first picking of bell peppers, jalapenos, and hot Hungarian wax peppers. We're running into a slump in lettuce production so the salad mix will be in short supply for a few weeks. On the other hand the romaine seems to be doing great!

We're starting to feel the effects of drought here. It's being a challenge to get enough water on everything, so some of our produce is slowing down because of that. We're really hoping for a good rain soon!

Your box will be built automatically with only produce in it but everything else is available to swap in. Besides the produce, there is pasture-raised eggs, fresh baking, handmade soap from The Sudsy Llama, and our homemade ranch dressing.

As always, if you have any trouble with swapping or anything else, you’re welcome to call/text or email. Trent - 306-883-8832, Lois - 306-883-9289. Also the folks at Harvie are happy to help, reach them at support@harvie.farm.

Have a great week!
