Farm Happenings for August 16, 2023

Posted on August 12th, 2023 by Trent Loewen

We’re very thankful for the inch of rain we got this last week! We really needed it and it’ll keep us going for a while.

This week we have green leaf lettuce again, more peppers including poblanos, and fresh garlic. Lots of cucumbers this week too!

Some of you have asked about corn. This year I direct seeded the corn instead of starting it in the greenhouse and transplanting it like we usually do, but it didn’t come up at all. I don’t know if it was bad seed or what, but very little of it germinated. So, like we’ve done previous years, we plan to get Lois’s dad to bring a load of Taber corn up from southern Alberta. It’ll probably be here the last week of August or the first week of September.

Your box will be built automatically with only produce in it but everything else is available to swap in. Besides the produce, there is beef from Barnes Creek Ranch, pasture-raised eggs, fresh baking, handmade soap from The Sudsy Llama, pickles, and our homemade ranch dressing.

As always, if you have any trouble with swapping or anything else, you’re welcome to call/text or email. Trent - 306-883-8832, Lois - 306-883-9289. Also the folks at Harvie are happy to help, reach them at support@harvie.farm.

Have a great week!
