Farm Happenings for June 13, 2018

Posted on June 11th, 2018 by Ben Saunders

Hope I don't jinx it but the first delivery last week went smoother than any other season!  Only a few little minor hiccups but those are to be expected.  As a reminder please remember to bring bags to bring your weekly bounty home in and leave the box at your drop site.  If you do choose to take your box home, please remember to bring it back the following week as they are not cheap and we reuse them at the farm.

Plastic mulch is a new thing for us this season and we can already tell it is going to be a big game changer for the farm.  The crops are going to be producing more to their full potential and by not having to dedicate so much time to weeding them we can really take care better of them and the land!  It has been a bit of learning curve to place it on the ground and plant into but we are getting the hang of it.

One thing you may have noticed is that some of our traditional spring crops are not showing up in the share.  This season we seem to have went directly from Winter time temperatures to Summer Time temperatures and the spring crops have suffered.  A benefit to these weather patterns though is your summer crops are loving it and I expect us to be harvesting our first tomatoes by the end of June!
