Valerie was out watering and found this little watermelon finally growing! It'll be awhile before it's ready to harvest, but it's exciting to see it doing so well! Watermelons are difficult to grow, because the conditions have to be just right for a successful watermelon crop. We source our watermelons from Valerie's sister and brother in law - S.R. Walker Watermelons. And if they don't have enough to fill our order, we also source our watermelons from Walchli. Both farms are in Hermiston, Oregon. Have you ever heard of Hermiston Melons? Hermiston, Oregon has built a reputation of having the best tasting melons and we agree, which is why we drive at least once a week to stock up. Fun fact, Valerie doesn't care for watermelon but really enjoys a good cantaloupe. We can probably all agree that there's something pretty satisfying about biting into a melon on a hot summer day, no matter what kind of melon you like to sink your teeth into! Stay safe and stay hydrated! Thanks again for supporting our family farm!

About the farm

We are a small family farm in NE Oregon. We grow a large selection of vegetables, our own frozen beef, free range eggs, in addition to fruit, local honey and other items from local producers. Our gardens are on a southern slope which gives us excellent growing conditions. We irrigate with water from a spring and use a drip system which allows us to give the plants what they need and not waste any water. We do not use any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. We do not knowingly plant any GMO seeds or plants.
