We froze a bunch of peas from Livesay Orchards last summer with exactly this moment in mind. Purple hull peas are a close cousin to black-eyed peas, close enough that we are confident they will be just as lucky if eaten on the first day of the year.
Roy also made a new batch of chili in our kitchen last week using grass-finished beef from BF Farms. We featured it in the boxes this week, along with Loaded Bowl tortilla chips, which are a year-round favorite.
