Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Winter Season, Week 24&25, Delivery November 15th thru November 17th
---- Brussel Sprouts ----
With the overnight lows dropping into the teens and the daytime highs below freezing it's perfect brussel sprout weather. Brussel sprouts are cold tolerant down to about the single digits. The leaves and sprouts are frozen so they snap right off, making it a lot easier to harvest. Should have plenty this week.
---- Winter Prep ----
Well winter is here, and the snow is falling. This last week was all about chickens and clean up. Had to make sure the chickens, and chicks, were all ready for the colder temps ahead. That means heated water dishes, fluffy straw, and sealing up a drafty barn. They still can go outside but truth be told, most of them hate snow so they prefer the warmth of the barn instead.
