Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Winter Season, Week 21, Delivery October 18th thru October 20th

---- First Delivery of Winter ----

The weather reminded us that this is the first delivery of the Winter Season. Deliveries are every 2 weeks. As usual, return all packaging you cannot use. Especially the compostable green produce bags which we can compost, but do not decompose in a landfill. If you have a backyard compost pile, feel free to add those green produce bags. They will degrade quickly with moisture and oxygen.

---- The Cooler is Packed ----

We finished up all of our fall picking this last weekend by picking a boat load of beets. Our cooler currently is storing kohlrabi, green and red cabbage, beets, red radishes, and carrots. These root/storage vegetables will last hopefully until February. Take as you need. That being said there are a handful of veggies that we will still be picking. Brussel sprouts and leeks are the king and queen of winter hardiness. We will see how long leeks continue to go so that's up in the air when they will end. Normally when the ground freezes. Brussel sprouts don't come around until December. We like to let them freeze in the field so that they are easier to harvest.

Thanks,
