Trumpeter Swan Farm CSA News - Summer Season, Week 5, Delivery June 28th thru June 30th

---- Garlic Scapes ----

Garlic Scapes are here. For those of you who don't know, in the early summer garlic produce a thing called scapes. Basically, they are the garlic equivalent of green onions. They have a very nice garlic flavor to them. Still my favorite way to use them is by adding them cooked to stir fry to give it a nice garlic flavor.

---- Last of the Lettuce ----

We will be picking the last of the spring lettuce tomorrow. In the hot of summer, spring lettuce tends to get bitter, so it only lasts so long. That being said this lettuce is perfectly dandy because when we wash and cool it all of the bitterness goes away. We currently have a summer variety growing but that is still a month out. Had a hard time getting it to germinate with the high heat the last two weeks.

Thanks,
